Reflections from Baja 💭
On our trip down the gorgeous coast of Baja California, the memories that stand out are the immense beauty of the wildlife we encountered, that felt like they were welcoming us to each anchorage and celebrating our journey down the coast!
The concentration of whales, dolphins, and mobula rays as we came into Cabo was mind blowing, and we didn’t expect how much exuberant wildlife we’d be gifted to see leaping out of the water joyfully.
This trip was a different pace to our ocean passages and it felt like we got to take our time a bit more and get to know the anchorages we called home each night. We saw parts of Baja that are hard to access by land - especially the gorgeous Bahia Santa Maria that was populated by only a small fishing camp, where we otherwise had the whole bay to ourselves until we saw a mother and a baby humpback playing and breaching in the waters just off the boat.
There’s a feeling of mysticism and natural magic in the air in Baja and we felt lucky to be a part of it for a short while. ✨

A Panama Passage Recap! 🇵🇦
In February we sailed two trips! A blue water passage from the Galápagos to Panama, and from Panama City to Colon! Accomplishing an equator crossing and making our easy through the Panama Canal.
On our adventure sailing trips, strangers become friends, skills are learned, and the world is seen through a unique lens. It’s a travel EXPERIENCE.
- We had two birthdays onboard, our very own Phoebe, and Jasmine! Jasmine and her mum Mel were on board which was very special.
- We had a pelagic swim on a low wind day which was exciting to be floating out in the deep blue sea!
- Our equator crossing ceremony on day two was something to not be forgotten. Phoebe was Neptune!
- Chad and Lori completed two passages with us, so they were veteran crew!
- We snorkeled with amazing marine life 🐢
- Fresh Mahi Mahi was caught and fish tacos were devoured 🌮
- Plenty of onshore exploration days provided cultural immersion, walking colorful streets and celebrating as a group 🎉
- Great mixture of seasoned sailors and guests who had never sailed before, we welcome folks from all backgrounds and skill levels!

Just when you think our itinerary can’t get any better, we drop a gem like this on you! Explore with us as we take adventure sailing to another level. As always, a friendly reminder that we welcome guests of all skill and experience levels on our expeditions. No previous sailing experience required.
Our journey starts in Southampton where we will set sail to explore a bit of Cornwall. When the weather looks good, we’ll set sail on the longest passage of the trip to the subtropical Portuguese island of Madeira. You’ll have time to take in a bit of Madeira, from gorgeous hiking, riding famous street toboggans in Funchal, or just sitting back and enjoy some down time after a challenging passage. If the weather looks calm enough, our next stop will be the wildlife refuge of Selvagem Grande, which is part of the archipelago of Ilhas Selvagens. The weather will continue to warm as we sail to the Canary Islands, ideally having enough time to make a stop at the island of Tenerife for a couple nights before heading to the final port of the trip, Las Palmas on Gran Canaria.

Our S/V Sea Dragon is a 72ft (22m), 90,000lb displacement steel hulled sailing vessel built in the UK in 2000.
Formerly known as CB 37, she is 1 of 11 second-generation yachts built for the Global Challenge Race – one of the longest, most demanding ocean voyages ever made with an upwind, west-about 32,000km circumnavigation.
In her new role, the boat provides a superb platform for rugged capability, capacity, and efficiency with a naturally low environmental footprint – perfect for the type of remote sailing expeditions we do in adventure sailing!
The British Maritime and Coastal Agency rate Sea Dragon to the highest standard of Category 0 All Oceans. 📣 Greenland to Iceland Adventure Sailing
Join us this summer July 14th - August 4th as we take an epic journey in the Arctic Circle!
This trip is a combination of offshore and costal sailing, come a seasoned sailor or learn to sail with us on this journey!
This sailing trip begins in Greenland and full of adventure! We’ll start the trip in Ilulissat, where the number of sled dogs rivals the number of people. In addition, you’ll see where the Ilulissat Icefjord (an UNESCO World Heritage Site) spits icebergs out into Disko Bay. We’ll sail south with the midnight sun, anchorage hopping over the next week toward Nuuk (Godthåb), keeping an eye out for sea life and sea ice along the way. Our specific anchorages and villages visited will depend largely on weather. We’ll have a night in Nuuk before setting sail on our offshore passage to Iceland ⛵️
Fun Facts:
- Greenland is actually the world’s biggest island – by area – that is not a continent. The total area of Greenland is 2.16 million square kilometres (836,330 square miles), including other offshore islands. Almost 80 percent of the land mass is covered by an ice cap.
- Since most of Greenland is covered in ice, snow and glaciers, the Arctic nation is mostly white. So how did it get its name “Greenland” when it’s not really green? It actually got its name from Erik The Red, an Icelandic murderer who was exiled to the island. He called it “Greenland” in hopes that the name would attract settlers. But according to scientists, Greenland was actually quite green more than 2.5 million years ago. A new study reveals that ancient dirt was cryogenically frozen for millions of years underneath about 2 miles of ice.
- The majority of the population in Greenland speaks both Greenlandic (mainly Kalaallisut) and Danish.
- Every year, the sun does not set from May 25th to July 25th, and it stays visible throughout the entire day and night.
- Greenland is home to the largest and deepest fjord system in the world 🌎
