This rare and remarkable 1,300-nautical-mile expedition crosses two of the world’s most significant invisible lines: the Equator and the International Date Line. Departing Tahiti, SV Sea Dragon heads north into remote Central Pacific waters, bound for the far-flung atoll of Kiritimati.
En route, we may sight or approach isolated islands such as Caroline, Starbuck, and Malden—remote specks in a vast ocean landscape. The crossing of the Equator is traditionally marked with ceremony at sea, while traversing the Date Line delivers the unique experience of adjusting not just your clock, but your calendar.
This is true expedition sailing—remote, committing, and deeply rewarding—culminating in landfall at one of the largest coral atolls in the world.
You’ll also get to
- Cross the Equator under sail
- Traverse the International Date Line
- Experience remote Central Pacific navigation
- Stand offshore watches on a challenging expedition leg
- Celebrate arrival at Kiritimati Atoll
Sailing with Panexplore means you’re not just along for the ride. You’ll be part of the crew—standing watches, trimming sails, navigating, and learning as you go. Whether you’re building miles, confidence, or simply a deeper connection with offshore sailing, Panexplore voyages are designed to be immersive, educational, and rewarding.
Our onboard cuisine is inspired by the places we sail through. Our galley follows a local & ocean-inspired philosophy—prioritizing local produce, coastal flavors, and fresh catch when the ocean provides. We can cater to specific diets, just let us know!
