NEW TRIP!

Embark aboard SV Sea Dragon for an adventurous passage from the historic streets of Cartagena, Colombia to the turquoise waters of Grand Cayman with a stop at the remote islands of San Andres, Providencia and Santa Catalina Islands. This 800-nautical-mile journey offers a true bluewater experience, combining open-ocean sailing with the possibility of exploring hidden coves and anchorages along the way.

The voyage is an ideal mix of offshore passage-making and tropical island stops. With the steady trade winds behind us, we’ll cover long stretches under sail, punctuated by potential landfalls for swimming, snorkeling, or simply stretching your legs. Whether you’re honing your seamanship skills, learning to stand watch, or simply soaking in the freedom of the Caribbean, this expedition delivers an unforgettable experience.

Hands-on sailing is at the heart of this voyage. You’ll be part of a small crew, helping with sail handling, navigation, and watch-keeping while learning from an experienced offshore skipper. Every day brings new horizons, changing skies, and the gentle rhythm of life at sea.

You’ll also get to

  • Participate in true bluewater sailing through the open Caribbean Sea
  • Refine offshore skills such as helming, navigation, and watch systems
  • Enjoy potential stops at secluded anchorages and quiet bays along the route
  • Experience the thrill of long passages under trade wind conditions
  • Gain confidence in your seamanship while contributing to the crew

Sailing with Panexplore means learning by doing—at sea, with professionals who’ve crossed oceans and led expeditions in some of the world’s most remote waters. This is not a packaged cruise or classroom-style sailing course. It’s a hands-on, immersive experience designed to fast-track your seamanship, confidence, and understanding of life offshore. This sailing expedition requires you to be in good physical health and reasonably fit. Activities involve moderate to strenuous exertion, including extended hours awake and difficult physical environment to evolve in.

If you have any medical conditions, recent injuries, or concerns about your fitness level, we strongly recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before booking. This expedition is not suitable for individuals with severe mobility limitations or certain medical conditions. Your safety and enjoyment are our priority, and we want to ensure this experience is appropriate for your physical capabilities. Please contact us should you have any questions or concerns before booking.

All meals on board Sea Dragon during this trip are delicious and vegetarian, with the addition of fish if we catch any along the way.
