gyre expedition the ocean cleanup

Our morning began with a surprise squall, which some of the lucky crew completely slept through. Just the Caribbean’s way of welcoming us to her warmer latitudes. The sun was out during part of another bout of rain and we found the end of the rainbow reaching to the aft cockpit – unfortunately, no pot of gold.

Regardless, the day wasn’t without it’s riches: everyone is finally feeling better as the seas were calmer, and we successfully trawled today for the first time! Hooray! We then had wonderful meal accompanied with an amazing sunset surrounded by the rolling Atlantic, and were witness to an even more stunning harvest moon-rise. Looking forward to more trawling tomorrow in these calmer seas.
