| In association with AMRF, we will venture into the North Atlantic gyre, also called the Sargasso Sea, to document the amount of floating debris. We will search out area's with higher then normal loads of garbage, as well as trawling a fine mesh net and analyzing the plastic content of the trawl. The ORV Alguita crew have explored the North Pacific gyre and discovered what is now dubbed the North Pacific garbage patch, and are in the process of documenting the massive loads of garbage that have ended up in the dead zone created by the North Pacific currents.
