Round Cape Horn
Dates: Feb 9 – Feb 24, 2011
Location: Punta del Este, Uruguay to Ushuaia, Argentina
Duration: 15 days, sailing distance: approx 1400nm
Sea Dragon will close out almost two years of work in the South Atlantic with a dramatic sail from Punta del Este, Uruguay through the the southern tip of the Continent and on to the Pacific. Sailing out Uruguay, she will head south, stopping briefly at a coastal island group, and then through the Beagle Canal to Chilean waters. Our port of call will be Ushuaia, Argentina and then on to Puerto Williams Chile, the world's southern-most town. Traversing dramatic inland channels, fjords and a mountainous landscape the team will experience glaciers, forests and an entirely unique fauna. The team will also be able to make first hand observations on the level of plastics and marine debris hitting the coastline.
